The Humboldt County Office of Education (HCOE) supports students with dyslexia through specialized literacy training for educators, such as the Orton-Gillingham method, and by providing comprehensive Special Education services for eligible students. They focus on early screening, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and assistive technology to improve literacy and academic outcomes.

Cal Poly Humboldt provides dyslexia resources through its Campus Disability Resource Center (CDRC) and School of Education programs. The CDRC is the primary campus contact for disability support and accommodation inquiries. The CDRC offers training and education specific to accessibility and accommodations. Educators with training needs should contact the ADA/504 Coordinator.

The Cal Poly School of Education is integrating dyslexia awareness and evidence-based training into its curriculum. The Humboldt County Library supports children's reading skills through weekly, in-person Preschool Story Times (for ages 2-6) that foster early literacy, language, and social skills. The Redwood Coast Regional Center offers services for children and adults with developmental disabilities, which can include dyslexia support. RCRC provides intake, assessment, diagnosis, and coordinates community-based services for over 10,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities in Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, and Mendocino counties. They work in partnership with many individuals, family members, community leaders, and agencies to help the people they serve live quality, independent lives in our region.

The Redwood Writing Project (RWP) is a network of professionals collaborating to promote literacy skills that sustain life-long learning by providing research-based, teacher-centered professional development; community writing opportunities; and youth writing programs. Housed on the Cal Poly Humboldt campus since 1977, RWP is an affiliate of both the National Writing Project (NWP) and the California Writing Project (CWP). As one of the 17 sites of the CWP network, and one of the 200 sites of the NWP network, the Redwood Writing Project is dedicated to the improvement of student learning through the effective teaching of writing.
